Spam Word Checker for Email
Paste a subject and your email. See trigger phrases, ALL CAPS, piled-up punctuation, risky links and missing unsubscribe links, in English and German. Free, no sign-up, your text stays in your browser.
The checker needs JavaScript.
Do Spam Words Still Matter?
Less than most lists suggest. No mailbox provider publishes a word list. Google’s guidelines for senders are about authentication, a spam rate below 0.3% and honest content: accurate headers, links readers understand, no hidden text.
Wording still counts twice: some company filters score phrases, and readers who feel pushed click “Report spam”, which is the signal that hurts most. So the checker flags wording as a hint and the patterns Google names as errors.
What the checker looks at
- Trigger phrases from our own EN and DE lists
- ALL CAPS and
!!!in subject and text - Links: shortened, mismatched, too many
- Images vs text, hidden text, unsubscribe link
- A spam score: no filter publishes one

What Decides More Than Words
Inbox placement starts before anyone reads a line. Mail still landing in spam? We find the cause in your Account Engagement (Pardot) or Marketing Cloud Next setup.
- Authentication. SPF, DKIM and DMARC that pass and align. Check them with the DMARC checker or, for Pardot and Marketing Cloud Next, the Sending Domain Check.
- Spam Complaints. Google asks bulk senders to stay below 0.3%. Send to people who asked for your email.
- One-Click Unsubscribe. Required by Gmail and Yahoo for bulk senders, honoured within two days.

Spam Word Checker FAQ
Short answers to what people ask about spam words and filters.
Do spam trigger words still send email to spam?
Rarely on their own. Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft weigh authentication, sender reputation and how readers react. Some company filters still score phrases, and pushy wording earns spam complaints, so plain wording still pays.
Where does your word list come from?
We wrote it for this tool, in English and German, from patterns in sales and phishing email. It is a list of hints, not a copy of any filter’s rules.
Is “free” a spam word?
Not by itself. “Your free guide to Pardot scoring” is fine; “FREE” in capitals with a row of exclamation marks and a deadline is what readers and filters dislike.
Why does the checker want an unsubscribe link?
Readers need a visible way out, and Gmail and Yahoo ask bulk senders for one-click unsubscribe. In Pardot the unsubscribe merge field adds the link.
What image-to-text ratio is safe?
No provider publishes one. The checker warns when an email is mostly images with little text, because filters and readers with images off then see almost nothing.
Is my email text stored?
No. The check runs in your browser; nothing you paste is sent to us or anyone else.
